Mayor Eric Adams spoke Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington.
The purpose of the march was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans. The final speaker at the march, Martin Luther King Jr., delivered the famous "I Have a Dream" speech in which he called the end to racism.
King's son took the stage Sunday to continue the message of peace and equality for all.
Adams also unveiled a historical marker to commemorate the building where the march was organized.
